I am Christopher Davis, an independent biotech research consultant in Medford, Massachusetts; BigBio is my practice, founded in 2023, and I am the only person in it.

I came to consulting after twenty-plus years on each side of the questions clients now bring me. At Novartis NIBR (2009-2014) I developed the assays and ran screening campaigns across 6 million compounds in five programs; four compound classes went on to medicinal chemistry. At Metamark Genetics (2014-2015) I owned the launch of ProMark, a machine-learning molecular diagnostic, which entered the NCCN guidelines in January 2015. At Shire (2015-2017), in Boston and Zug, I was Director of Product Strategy for three assets totalling 13% of net revenue, a GI franchise of ~$1.1-1.3B, and the corporate-development liaison through the Baxalta merger.

In 2017 I founded Mango. I licensed Caltech's ePetri imaging technology, invented the company's incubator-free temperature control and am the sole inventor on its patent family, was principal investigator on a NIIMBL award, wrote two NIH SBIR Fast-Track applications (neither funded), sold the first commercial instrument to a Fortune 100 pharma in 2022 and closed the pre-seed round the same year. I left in 2023, following a leadership transition. The company still sells on that platform in 2026.

Since 2015 I have sat on due-diligence teams at Mass Medical Angels, about 25 deals so far, writing competitive landscapes and scientific reviews and presenting the recommendation to the group. Before all of it I co-founded the Institute for Biocomplexity and Informatics at the University of Calgary with Stuart Kauffman and, as its Director of Operations, delivered its drug discovery platform ten months early and 35% under budget; I then managed the build of a 10,000 sq ft cell-banking facility for Johns Hopkins. I hold a BS in Molecular Biology from the University of New Mexico and an MS in Biotechnology from Johns Hopkins.

Since 2023 I have written all my code through AI coding agents, directing them as the system architect, and built the research engine the site runs on: a multi-step pipeline with adversarial review and an audit gate, a fact engine that admits a claim only with a verbatim source, and a forecast engine that locks a call before the data and scores it after. I was born near Anahim Lake, British Columbia, and raised in a log cabin up the Dean River with no electricity and no running water. I hold US and Canadian citizenship and live in Medford, outside Boston.
