What does commercial due diligence mean for a biotech or pharma asset?
Commercial due diligence on a biotech or pharma asset is a read of the primary record -- filings, trial registries, patents, the literature -- that tells the buyer where the record and the pitch disagree; weighing whether a gap is fatal or fixable stays with the buyer and the committee.
What you receive
I build the read from filings, trial registries, patents and the literature, add a dated call where the evidence supports one, and keep every figure two clicks from its source. You receive the recommendation on page one, the sections that carry the argument, a source ledger, and, where the question has numbers in it, the working model as a spreadsheet with every assumption named.
Proof
I read two seed-stage decks for an angel group against the primary record and delivered both in six days; two patents one deck called issued were found expired.

Questions
What is commercial due diligence consulting?
Outside help with one question before a deal: does the business, or the asset, stand up to what the seller says about it. For a biotech or pharma asset I read the primary record behind the deck and hand back a written answer that shows its sources. You send the question and the decision it feeds; I return a written scope naming the sources to be read, what you will receive and the delivery date, with the fee fixed against that scope. I do not publish rates and I do not bill by the hour.
What is CDD and FDD, and which does a biotech asset need?
In general usage commercial due diligence (CDD) tests a company's market, customers and competition, and financial due diligence (FDD) tests its books. A drug, a diagnostic or a device before revenue has a short set of books and a market years away, so the questions that decide the deal are narrower: does the data show what the deck says, do the patents exist and still stand, who else is in the race, and what would the next readout have to show for the call to be right. That is the commercial read I deliver; the books stay with your accountant.
What is a red flag due diligence report?
The screening version of the read: a short report, turned around in days, that surfaces the gaps between what the primary record shows and what the deck claims, and leaves the weighing -- fatal or fixable -- to the buyer and the committee. I delivered two such reads for an angel group six days after receiving the decks.
How is AI used in biotech due diligence here?
A fleet of agents reaches across about 2,724 primary-database tools; a fact engine admits a claim only with a verbatim source; a model of a different lineage reviews the draft against the author; an audit gate runs before anything leaves. One person reads every source and signs the call, so the document has one author who can defend any line in it. The method is on the record: I called seven oncology readouts before the data and scored them in public, misses included, and the same pipeline produced about 100 reports.
Do you do licensing due diligence on a biotech asset?
Yes. For pharma business development weighing an in-licence I run the same four questions, with the patent check first: do the patents exist, who holds them, and do they still stand. I have sat on the licensee's side of that table: in 2017 I negotiated Mango's exclusive licence to a Caltech imaging technology and drove the freedom-to-operate work myself, and the company still sells on that platform in 2026.
